Do you love music? Does your face light up whenever you go to the theatre and hear songs from “Grease” or “Mamma Mia?” In these weekly intensive workshops, we offer training in singing, acting, and dance while working with well-known Broadway and West End musicals.
Objectives:
- Discover and enhance personal skills
- Explore new ways of perceiving reality
- Accept personal commitment to participate in a group project
- Integrate every individual within the group
- Respect peers
- Work on self-criticism
- Improve motor skills
- Develop musicality
- Strengthen the voice
- Understand the elements that make up a musical theatre production
- Work with these elements in a production
Content:
The main goal of this course is to acquire knowledge about vocal technique, musical styles, and choreography while working on a musical production. For this reason, every session will devote an hour to body work, vocal warm-ups (designed for the age and skill level of the group), and reviewing musical theatre history. We will apply what we learn to a musical production performed at the end of the workshop, using elements such as: sets, costumes, lighting, and characterization.
Throughout the four-week course, we will work on the following shows:
June 29th to July 5th
- Grease
July 6th to July 12th
- Hairspray
July 13th to July 19th
- Legally Blonde
July 20th to 26th
- Shrek
Each course lasts a week. Students can enroll in one or more workshops, depending on their availability and preferences.
Requirements:
You do not need any previous experience or knowledge of musical theatre. This course is suitable for all levels, especially aimed for children between ages 10 and 16 years old.
